<p>A system 18 adaptively scales a relationship between a control signal 10, such as a volume control input, and a corresponding output parameter, such as volume level, based on prior typical usage such that a parameter value within a range of parameter values may be set with a greater degree of accuracy. The system 18 comprises a store 24 arranged to store a scaling profile, a control signal input 20 arranged to receive the control signal 10 from a user selection and a processor 22 arranged to receive the control signal 10 and the scaling profile and to scale the relationship between a control signal value and a corresponding output parameter value by the scaling profile. An output 26 is arranged to output this scaled output parameter value and the processor 22 is arranged to monitor the user's usage of the control signal and to update the stored scaling profile based on the usage.</p> |
