<p>The invention relates to a surge arrester (1) which is mounted between a phase conductor and a PE conductor or an N-conductor, and comprises surge protection means, namely at least one spark gap and at least one additional electrical component (6) which is serially connected thereto. Said surge arrester (1) is equipped with a fault indicator which is integrated into the housing (10) thereof and which can be displaced by means of an actuator (3) from a starting position which signals that the surge protection means is working correctly, into a position which indicates a fault. The aim of the invention is to integrate said actuator, in an economical and and simple manner, into a surge arrester, the trigger element of the actuator not using the temperature of the surge arrester but the fact that the spark gap is faulty. As a result, the actuator (3) can be electrically activated and it can be triggered when the short-circuit flow flows through the surge arrester (1).</p> |
