<p>A rotor blade e.g. for a tidal turbine comprises a spar member 66 having a pair of opposed surfaces 68, a single piece leading edge member 62 attached at a first end of the pair of opposed surfaces 68, and a single piece trailing edge member 64 attached at a second end of the pair of opposed surfaces 68. The external surface of the rotor blade is defined by leading edge member 62, the trailing edge member 64 and at least a portion of the opposed surfaces 68 of the spar member 66. The one-part leading and trailing edge members 62, 64 may be composite members with integral reinforcing ribs 5, 20, which may be assembled and cured using a male tool 10 comprising slots 12, 14, 16 for the ribs 5, 20 and a female tool (figure 4).</p> |
