PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing an aryl(diolate)borane as an important compound as an intermediate for synthesizing biaryl compounds serving as raw materials for pharmaceuticals/agrochemicals and functional materials. SOLUTION: The aryl(diolate)borane of formula (4) is produced by reaction between 2, 2'-bi(1, 3, 2-benzodioxaborole) derivative and a benzene derivative followed by reaction of a diol in the presence of a palladium catalyst and an acetate. In formula (4), R<SP>2</SP>is H, 1-6C alkyl or the like; n is 1 or 2; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are the same as or different from each other, each being H or methyl; and A is a methylene group, a dimethylmethylene group or the like.
