<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction catheter whose outer diameter can be reduced as far as possible and which can form a suction lumen with a sufficient flow passage area, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the suction catheter. <P>SOLUTION: The suction catheter 10 includes: a suction tube 24 where a suction lumen 24a for communication from a distal end to a proximal end is formed; and a guide wire tube 20 which is joined in parallel with each other, on the outer surface of the suction tube 24 on the side of the distal end and also where a guide wire lumen 20a having an opening part 22 is formed in the external part of the suction tube 24. The suction lumen 24a includes a recessed part 24b which is recessed inward and arranged at a portion in a circumferential direction corresponding to the guide wire lumen 20a.
