<p>The present invention concerns a rotor (200) for an electronically commutated motor which comprises a low magnetic permeability core (210), a plurality of magnets (230), and high magnetic permeability separators (220) between adjacent magnets. Each separator (220) is attached to the core (210) and is isolated from the adjacent separators (220) by the low magnetic permeability core (210), so that magnetic flux is discouraged from passing through the core (210). The invention increases the magnetic flux density in the air gap between the rotor (200) and its associated stator, thus increasing the efficiency of the motor.</p> |
