562,029. Dental hand-pieces. GALLAY, R. Oct. 19, 1942, No. 14635. Convention date, April 4. [Class 81 (ii)] A dental hand-piece comprises a hollow spindle 1, formed with a conical portion 2, the spindle being driven by an intermediate shaft 7 screwed into a member 5 attached to the spindle 1. A spring 4 bears against the member 5 and, through a sliding piece 6, presses a conical split chuck 3 into the coned end 2 of the spindle 1, thus closing the jaws of the chuck. Lock nuts 8, 10 hold the shaft 7 in a bearing member 9, to the end of which is screwed, sleeve 12. A locking ring 13, also screwed to the member 9, is provided with a lip 13<1>, which limits the forward movement of the sleeve 12. When screwed backwardly, the edge 12<111> of the sleeve 12 bears against the edge 3<1> of the chuck to open the jaws of the chuck and allows the shank of the tool to be removed or inserted. |
