A separator (fig.4) features one or more plates which follow a helical path around a central axis, with a radial component of slope increasing with a distance from the central axis. Compared to a previous design (fig.1) without such, advantages such as improved plate stiffness, use of alternate material for the plates, separation efficiency and a reduction in the height containing tank height reduction may be provided. Also disclosed is a separator with a tank, with one or more plates sloping generally upwards with distance from a central axis (fig.6). |
