<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method that allows a user to select a function by simple operation even when the number of arranged operation buttons is reduced, and an acoustic device that allows a user to select a sound source by simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: In an operation method, a menu item in a first menu is selected and determined, so that operation corresponding to the selected menu item is performed. In the operation method, by the selection operation of the menu item (203), an upper menu item (201) corresponding to an upper layer of the menu item is displayed, and by selecting and determining the upper menu item, a second menu of a lower menu item included in a lower layer of the upper menu item is displayed to enable selection operation of the lower menu item.
