PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling machine designed such that a situation that the outside of a surface area to be worked approaches a vehicle body is notified to an operator getting on the vehicle body from the vehicle body side. SOLUTION: The inventive rolling machine comprises: a detection sensor 25 for the surface to be worked consisting of a transmitter 26 provided at a front part or a rear part of a vehicle body 1, which rolls and travels within a prescribed surface area to be worked by operation of an operator and applies rolling compaction to the surface of the surface area to be worked T1, so as to be directed forward and downward or backward and downward, and emitting a detection medium to the surface to be worked in front of or behind the vehicle body near the front part or the rear part of the vehicle body, and a receiver 27 for receiving the detection medium reflected from the surface to be worked; out-of-area determination means 30 for determining the outside of a surface area to be worked according to change in the detection amount in the detection sensor for the surface to be worked; and notification means 32 to 34 provided on the vehicle body, receiving determination of the out-of-area determination means, and notifying a situation that the outside of a surface area to be worked approaches the vehicle body to the operator. Thereby, the operator receives the notification and stops the vehicle body, thus preventing the vehicle body from approaching the outside of a surface area to be worked without depending upon another person.
