PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner having small dimensions in the height and width directions and less deterioration of optical characteristics due to temperature fluctuations. SOLUTION: Two beams of luminous flux incident on a polygon mirror 2104A are incident on the same reflection surface obliquely with respect to the direction corresponding to the sub-scanning. Two beams of luminous flux incident on a polygon mirror 2104B are incident on the same reflection surface obliquely with respect to the direction corresponding to the sub-scanning. Each scanning optical system includes a scanning lens and folding mirrors for guiding light which guide the luminous flux through the scanning lens to corresponding photoreceptor drums. The folding mirrors for guiding light of each scanning optical system is positioned below the bearing part near the polygon mirror with respect to the vertical direction.
