PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device which can prevent damage, jamming, and the like, of a document while suppressing or preventing decrease in the number of sheets being read per unit time.SOLUTION: The image reading device includes image reading means for reading the image of a document through a contact member coming into contact with the document being conveyed, a rotary member 25 disposed to face the image reading means, a cleaning member 16 having one end affixed to the rotary member and the other end projecting from the outer periphery of the rotary member, and coming into contact with the contact member during rotation of the rotary member thus cleaning the surface of the contact member, and drive means for rotating the rotary member. In the outer periphery of the rotary member, a groove into which the cleaning member collapses by touching the contact member at the mounting position of the cleaning member when the rotary member is rotated by the drive means is provided. |
