<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress electric power consumption in heating of a fixing device, without increasing stand-by time for the fixing device temperature to reach a predetermined temperature or complicating the structure, such as an additional mechanism for switching the electric power to heat the fixing device. <P>SOLUTION: If a processing using a fixing device is supposed to be executed when a sleep mode is released, a preheating time from the start of preheating of the fixing device by a heating part until the fixing device temperature reaches an image formation temperature T<SB POS="POST">F</SB>is calculated, based on the fixing device temperature detected by a temperature sensor, and the heating part is started to preheat the fixing device so as to complete the preheating at substantially the same time as a processing execution instruction by a user.
