A device for automatic measuring of the time course of snow height, air temperature and temperature profile of snow layer, comprising a sensor line which consists of optical sensors laid out regularly and which is connected to a control unit, where there are temperature sensors regularly included in the sensor line and a system for the respective measurements and calculation of the snow water equivalent.
