The invention relates to a composition for use in cosmetics. The composition comprises an effective quantity of an apple tree bark extract that improves the skin's resistance to the effects of ageing, by means of an anti-radical effect. The invention is suitable for cosmetic compositions intended to counteract the signs of skin ageing.
