The present invention relates to a new type of anatomical model for minimally invasive medical training and/or demonstration. In particular the invention provides an anatomical model of an internal biological structure which is embedded into synthetic flesh, both of which are comprised of translucent and/or transparent elastomeric and/or polymeric materials that act as a substitute for human flesh organs and/or bone. The synthetic flesh may be in the form of a body part or housed in a transparent container with access panels. The advantage of the invention is that the anatomical model allows real medical instruments and/or implants to be inserted in the style of a minimally invasive procedure with transparent hard and soft tissues to provide tactile feedback and allow the user to visualise the location and orientation of the instruments during the procedure. |
