PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining high image quality with excellent resolution by suppressing adhesion to a photoreceptor caused by the action of silica used for a toner external additive by using a high durable photoreceptor having high abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes at least: an electrophotographic photoreceptor in which at least a photoreceptive layer and a surface protecting layer are provided on a conductive substrate; electrifying means which electrifies the surface of the photoreceptor; image exposing means which forms an electrostatic latent image by exposure; developing means which develops the electrostatic latent image by toner; transfer means which transfers the developed toner image; and cleaning means for the photoreceptor. The toner contains at least a binder resin and a coloring agent and to the surface of a toner base particle is attached at least one or more kinds of hydrophobized silica fine particles.
