A catalytic burner comprises an upper layer c of platinized asbestos fabric or millboard and a pad d of asbestos fibre, glass wool, or other fibrous incombustible material supported by a perforated disc e in a casing a adapted to be screwed on a container provided with a wick for supplying benzine or other vapour. The layer c is secured to the casing by a ring b or wires, and may be domed to increase the surface.
