The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for enhancing security in a vehicle communication network by using a gateway. The gateway according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an average driving determination module to calculate an average driving with respect to a transmission section, which receives a predetermined number of messages, and to compare the average driving with a preset a maximum allowing value of transmission delay to determine whether the received message is a hacking message; and a security code identification module to analyze a security code included in an acyclic message when the received message is an acyclic message to determine whether the acyclic message is the hacking message. Therefore, the present invention enhances the security in a vehicle.
