A receiver unit 102B receives electrical signals supplied from the piezoelectric elements constituting the ultrasonic array sensor 101B for reception. An amplification and conversion unit 102D amplifies the electrical signals of each of the piezoelectric elements constituting the ultrasonic array sensor 101B for reception and converts the electrical signals into digital signals, and arranges the digital signals in serial to create serial digital signals. An image forming unit 103A forms images on the basis of the serial digital signals.
