<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of eliminating the need of stopping for a long term even if lost motion amount becomes abnormally large, and further accurately estimating the lost motion amount as compared with a conventional one; and a method of controlling the machine tool.SOLUTION: A machine tool includes: a driving mechanism for moving a control object; a motor for actuating the driving mechanism; a first encoder for detecting a position of the control object; a second encoder for detecting a position of the motor; a servo control portion for controlling the motor; and a numerical control portion for receiving or calculating an error between the position of the control object obtained from a detection result of the first encoder and the position of the control object obtained from a detection result of the second encoder, and estimating a transmission error of the driving mechanism on the basis of the change amount of the error before and after inversion in a moving direction of the control object.</p> |
