PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a program which can shift an authentication state together with a power mode of an apparatus even in a state where an image forming apparatus passively communicates with an external device.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 has: receiving means 21 for receiving an instruction from an operator; a browser 22 for establishing a first communication which is on the basis of the instruction the receiving means 21 receives or a second communication which is not on the basis of the instruction and maintaining the first or second communication as long as the established first or second communication is not cut off, between a partner communication section and the browser 22; communication monitoring means 23 for monitoring the first or the second communication established by the browser 22 and determining whether the communication with the partner communication section is the first communication or the second communication; and shifting means 25 for shifting from a first state intended for communication with the browser 22 to a second state intended for other communication than that with the browser 22 when the communication monitoring means 23 determines that communication with the partner communication section is the second communication. |
