PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay failure detector of higher reliability.SOLUTION: A determination unit 406F determines the presence or absence of failure in a relay 404 based on the open/close state of the relay 404 and the potential difference of a first potential (potential α) and a second potential (potential &bgr;). When a determination is made that a step-up voltage has a larger value than the battery voltage, the determination unit 406F determines that a failure has occurred if the first potential and second potential are equal (potential α=potential &bgr;) when the relay 404 is set in open state. When the relay 404 is set in close state, in the same failure determination, a determination is made that a failure has occurred if the first potential and second potential are not equal (potential α≠potential &bgr;). |
