<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic drive unit in which eddy current loss can be reduced, and to provide electromagnetic relay using the same.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic drive unit includes a coil, and a cylindrical plunger 2 surrounded by the coil and displaceable in the axial direction of the coil (vertical direction in fig. 1(b)). The plunger 2 has a magnetic part 21 composed of a magnetic material, and an insulating part 22 held by the magnetic part 21 in the circumferential direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the coil, and composed of a material having a volume resistivity higher than that of the magnetic part 21. Since the route of eddy current, as shown by arrow A1, is divided by the insulating part 22, eddy current loss is reduced compared with a case where the plunger 2 is entirely composed of a magnetic material.</p> |
