PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for isolating esophageal epithelial stem cells from animal esophagus tissue, to provide a method for screening anticancer substances effective for esophageal cancer, and a method for screening to identify oncogenic factors that may induce esophageal cancer.SOLUTION: Esophageal epithelial stem cells can be isolated by: collecting esophageal epithelial cells by using a proteinase from esophageal tissue; embedding the esophageal epithelial cells in a gel matrix; and culturing the cells using a medium containing epithelial growth factor. Use of the isolated esophageal epithelial stem cells enables screening of anticancer substances and screening of oncogenic substances. |
