摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method by which the on-voltage of a power conversion system using a wide band gap semiconductor element can be reduced, and it can be highly reliably protected from an extremely large short circuit such as accidents of arm short circuit and load short circuit.SOLUTION: A power conversion system comprises: a normal converter 1 that rectifies AC voltage; a DC intermediate circuit having a smooth capacitor 2; a reverse converter that converts DC voltage into AC voltage, and has, on the upper and lower arm sides UN, VN, and WT, wide band gap semiconductor switching elements UP, VP, WP, UN, VN, and WT; and a current detector CT that detects current; and a control device configured such that when the detected currents exceeds a predetermined value, the on-state of an element among wide band gap semiconductor switching elements on the first arm side, which is one of the arm sides, is continued. All elements of the second arm side, which is the other arm side that is not the first arm side, are turned off.
