PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a passenger conveyor in which breakage of footsteps etc. accompanied with footstep running can be prevented by detecting floating-up of the footsteps and stopping a passenger conveyor in a case that the footsteps are floated up.SOLUTION: An escalator 1 of the present invention comprises: a pair of footstep chains 9 which are wound over an upper floor side drive sprocket and a lower floor side drive sprocket; plural footsteps 4 which are connected to the pair of footstep chains 9; drive rollers 16 which are provided at both end parts of a footstep shaft 15 as rotatable; driven rollers 17 which are provided at both sides of each of the footsteps 4 as rotatable; drive rails 10 which guide the drive rollers 16 and driven rails 11 which guide the driven rollers 17; and a footstep floating-up detection device 20 which detects floating-up of the footsteps 4 due to separation of the driven rollers 17 from the driven rails 11 and stops operation pf the escalator 1. |
