摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a signal waveform deteriorated due to the presence or absence of an input packet.SOLUTION: An optical communication device comprises a variable resistance unit, a measurement unit, and a control unit. The variable resistance unit is placed at a stage before an electric/optical conversion unit that converts an electric signal into an optical signal with a waveform corresponding to potential difference by use of the potential difference between a normal-phase component and an inverse-phase component of the electric signal into which an input packet has been converted. The variable resistance unit adds resistance that changes an intermediate value of potential of the normal-phase component or inverse-phase component inputted into the electric/optical conversion unit to the normal-phase component or inverse-phase component. The measurement unit measures a ratio of a presence period to the sum of the presence period when the input packet is present and a non-presence period which is other than the presence period. The control unit controls the value of resistance applied to the normal-phase component or inverse-phase component by the variable resistance unit so that the intermediate value of potential of the normal-phase component and the intermediate value of potential of the inverse-phase component that are away in the non-presence time will come close to each other on the basis of the ratio measured by the measurement unit.
