METHOD FOR IMPROVING SURFACE HARDNESS OF WORK ROLL

The present invention relates to a method for improving the surface hardness of a work roll, capable of improving the hardness of a neck portion of the work roll without the excessive rise of production costs by pressurizing and hardening (plastic deformation) the neck portion of the work roll using a rolling member. The method comprises the steps of mounting the work roll completed thermal process on a shelf for processing the work roll (S1); finish-cutting the surface of the neck portion of the work roll (S2); solidifying the surface of the neck portion by pressurizing the rolling member to the surface of the neck portion while rotating the work roll moving the rolling member (S3); and polishing the surface of the neck portion (S4).
