The present invention discloses a vaccine against infestations caused by blood-sucking arthropods, preferably ticks, mosquitoes, sand flies, red poultry mites, fleas, lice, sea lice, etc. The invention also claims protection for a peptide which is capable of inducing a protective immune response and which is cross-reactive vis-à-vis an infestation caused by blood-sucking arthropods, a polynucleotide, an expression vector, a host cell, a non-human animal, an antibody, and a drug, as well as the use of these products in medicine, preferably in recombinant DNA technologies and in immunology.
