Disclosed are method for discovering a user of an equipment, and a user equipment, so as to improve the security of user identification information, and to enable a user equipment to securely discover each other. The method comprises: receiving a first message which is sent by a second user equipment and at least contains implicit user identification information about the second user equipment; according to a correlation stored by a first user equipment, obtaining user identification corresponding to the implicit user identification information about the second user equipment; and from the user identification corresponding to the implicit user identification information about the second user equipment, determining user identification of the second user equipment, and thus discovering a user of the second user equipment. The present invention is applicable to the field of communications. |
