In order to provide an animal research apparatus whereby tests carried out during animal research can be automatically optimized, this animal research apparatus (1) for carrying out a behavioral research on a test animal (A) includes: a cage (2) constituting a living environment for the test animal (A); a chamber (3) detachably attached to the cage (2); a touch panel (33) situated inside the chamber (3), for presenting problems to the test animal (A), detecting the test animal's (A) responses, and obtaining response data; a position measuring instrument (4) for measuring the position of the test animal (A) inside the cage (2) and the chamber (3), and obtaining position data; a data storage unit (55) for storing the response data and the position data as research data; and a problem improvement unit (511e) for making improvements, on the basis of the research data, to the problems which are presented by the touch panel (33). |
