PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver, a reception method, a transmitter and a transmission method, capable of establishing a reception mode according to a traffic state and increasing a communication resource.SOLUTION: A base station 110, which receives a radio signal from one or a plurality of mobile stations 140, includes: a plurality of antennas 162a-162d allocated to the mobile stations; a traffic determination unit 158 for determining whether or not traffic from/to the mobile stations is a predetermined threshold or greater; and a call control unit 160 for changing the allocation of the plurality of antennas according to a determination result by the traffic determination unit, and for setting the reception mode to receive the radio signal. If the traffic is the threshold or greater, the call control unit sets an omni-reception mode having a reduced number of antennas allocated to one mobile station.
