1. An image capture apparatus comprising:
an image sensor that can acquire image signals to be used for focus detection based on a phase-difference detection; an addition unit configured to generate an added image signal by adding a plurality of image signals obtained in a plurality of frames of a moving image captured at a predetermined frame rate; a calculation unit configured to calculate a defocus amount of an imaging optical system based on the added image signal; a correction unit configured to correct the defocus amount; and a drive unit configured to adjust a focal point of the imaging optical system according to the corrected defocus amount, wherein the correction unit corrects the defocus amount according to a difference between a focus state of the imaging optical system that corresponds to an accumulation period of the plurality of image signals used to generate the added image signal and a focus state of the imaging optical system when the drive unit adjusts the focal point.
