<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image synthesizer capable of performing multi-screen display while excluding a portion that is not profitable as video information to be viewed from an input video image.SOLUTION: An image synthesizer 100 comprises: a video image segmenting section 3 for segmenting a predetermined range of a first video image; a video image switching section 4 for selecting either the first video image or a video image segmented by the video image segmenting section 3; an enlarging/reducing section 5 for enlarging/reducing the video image selected by the video image switching section 4; a synthesizing section 6 for superimposing a second video image and the video image enlarged/reduced by the enlarging/reducing section 5; and a video information detecting section 8. The video information detecting section 8 includes: a count part 81 for counting the number of pixels of a background color regarding a predetermined monitor range of a video image based on the first video image; and a determination part 82 for determining whether the first video image is a vertical video image or a horizontal video image on the basis of the counted number of pixels of the background color. On the basis of the determination in the determination part 82, the video image switching section 4 selects the video image.</p> |
