The present invention provides an association prompt input system comprising: an associated information query unit, for obtaining a currently-input character and querying information associated with an operation of inputting the character; an associated character query unit, for querying, in the information, characters associated with the character; an associated character extraction unit, for extracting the associated characters from the information; and a display unit, for displaying the associated characters as alternative input information in an alternative input field corresponding to the character. The present invention further provides an association prompt input method. With the technical solution of the present invention, the information associated with the operation of inputting the current character can be regarded as a search range for prompt input, words and phrases to be input are extracted according to the currently-input character, and in this way, a scene-based prompt about words and phrases for alternative input is achieved, alternative input items are offered to a user more accurately, the efficiency of the user in character input is improved, and user experience is promoted.
