The present invention provides an opening and closing method with which the wings of a winged container can be rotated by hand, etc. even when some kind of malfunction occurs in the opening and closing drive units (cylinders) and the drive units cannot be used, and a device therefor. A pair of spindles (9, 9) is disposed along a center beam (11) that spans the upper part of a container (1). When upper wings (2, 2), which cover half of the upper opening of the container (1) and at least the upper half of the opening on the left or right side surface, are mounted on said spindles (9, 9) so as to rotate freely, the upper wings (2, 2) are rotated by working rotation assistance members (7) that are obtained from a spring member, one end of which is provided on the upper wing (2, 2) and the other end of which is provided on the container (1), together with hydraulic cylinders (8) that rotate the upper wings (2,2). |
