A heat flux sensor (10) is disposed so that heat flux from a living body that is in a prescribed position can be detected. Additionally, whether there is a living body in the prescribed position is determined through the comparison of the detection results of the heat flux sensor and a determination criteria set in advance in accordance with the heat flux that may be detected if there is a living body in the prescribed position. Further, determining that there is a living body in the prescribed position if the detection results of the heat flux sensor satisfy the determination criteria, that is, if the heat flux detected by the heat flux sensor is heat flux from a living body, makes accurate living body detection possible.
