PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is reduced in internal resistance, and is capable of achieving higher battery characteristics.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte which are housed in a battery case. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery further comprises: a coating film substantially originating from a sulfonic acid compound and formed on the surface of the positive electrode active material, provided that the coating film is 3.3-7.9 μM per unit superficial area (1 m) of the positive electrode active material; and a mix coating film substantially originating from a sulfonic acid compound and a vinylene carbonate compound and formed on the surface of the negative electrode active material. The mix coating film includes a coating film originating from the sulfonic acid compound by 4.2-6.9 μM per unit superficial area (1 m) of the negative electrode active material, and a coating film originating from the vinylene carbonate compound at a rate of 2.2-6.9 μM to 1 μM of the coating film originating from the sulfonic acid compound.
