The present invention comprises mutually facing upper and lower faces, and peripheral side faces, facing a positive-type cutting insert (10). A cutting blade (22) is formed at an intersecting ridge line section between the upper face (20) and the peripheral side faces (40). This cutting blade comprises a protruding cutting blade (22c). A flank face section (40b) of the peripheral side faces comprises an upper flank face (42) and a lower flank face (41). The upper flank face extends further outwards than an extension face (S2) established so as to extend the lower flank face. A rake face section (20c) of the upper face has a first rake face (28) and a second rake face (29). The inclination angle of the second rake face is smaller than the inclination angle of the first rake face, on the inside of the protruding cutting blade. |
