Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a device and a method for providing a text converting service in an electronic device. An operating method of an electronic device includes: an operation of displaying a screen including at least one display area, an operation of determining at least one of the display areas as a conversion area, an operation of obtaining a first text included in the conversion area, and an operation of providing a second text corresponding to the first text. In other ways the first text included in the conversion area is able to be converted into the second text.
