PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact vibration type actuator by making a vibrator compact.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic motor 1 includes a vibrator 11 which has a piezoelectric element 12 and a support member 21 to which a first end of the vibrator 11 is fixed. The vibrator 11 is provided with a contact part 14 at a second end on the opposite side from the first end, and a friction member (driven member) 31 presses the contact part 14 to move relatively to the vibrator 11. The vibrator 11 has a structure of a cantilever beam which has the first end fixed to the support member 21 and is provided with the contact part 14 at the second end on the opposite side. The contact part 14 is positioned at an antinode of flexural vibration and at an antinode of torsional vibration. The piezoelectric element 12 is fed with electricity to put the contact part 14 in elliptic vibration making good use of a flexural vibration mode and a torsional vibration mode of the vibrator 11, so that the friction member 31 is driven. |
