The present invention pertains to a liquid crystal display device using a color filter in which a specific chiral liquid crystal-containing material and a specific dye and/or a pigment are used. The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device for preventing a decrease in the voltage-holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and overcoming the problem of display defects such as white spots, uneven orientation, and image retention. This liquid crystal display device has the features of preventing a decrease in the voltage-holding ratio (VHR) of the liquid crystal layer and suppressing the occurrence of display defects such as image retention, and is therefore particularly useful as an active-matrix-drive IPS-mode or FFS-mode liquid crystal display device, and can be applied as a liquid crystal display device in household electrical products, automobiles, production facilities, measurement and analysis devices, communication devices, and the like. |
