PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detection technology capable of maintaining flaw detection sensitivity throughout the thickness direction of a structural plate material.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic flaw detector 10 comprises: a parameter setting unit 21 for setting a focal depth d and a flaw detection angle &thetas; of an ultrasonic beam 13; a position determination unit 22 for determining a transmission position 15 and a reception position 16 of the ultrasonic beam 13 on the surface of an object 30 to be inspected; an element selection unit 23 for selecting the number of ultrasonic transducers 11 corresponding to the transmission position 15 and the reception position 16 as necessary depending on the focal depth d; a direction setting unit 24 for setting the timing of operation for the ultrasonic transducers 11 so that the ultrasonic beam 13 is, in a transmission group 17 and a reception group 18, outputted/inputted from a direction constituting the flaw detection angle &thetas;; and a display unit 29 for displaying information for determining, on the basis of the intensity of an output signal 14 of the ultrasonic transducers 11, whether or not a defect is present at the focal depth d. |
