Hatches; trimming and spreading apparatus.- A device for facilitating the loading of coal into the holds of colliers and minimizing pulverization comprises a platform a resili.ently supported from the hatch coaming h by rods f and springs c the platform being constructed of wood covered with rubber protected by tough belting material. The platform may be successively raised as the hold is filled by attaching the springs to successive pairs of hooks g. In a modification, the platform is constructed of spaced beams covered with rubber and slung from a wire rope. |
