This hybrid vehicle includes: an engine; a regenerative motor for travelling, which exhibits a motor characteristic wherein the motor efficiency at 75% of the maximum rotational speed is 90% or more when the load is 10% or more of the maximum load; and a transmission which transmits the power of the engine to a wheel drive shaft. The motor is coupled to the wheel drive shaft and bypasses the transmission.
