The invention relates to a device and a method for calculating and coding holographic data of a three-dimensional scene, into a spatial light modulator (SLM) for depicting three-dimensional scenes using a holographic display. In particular, the invention also relates to a device and a method for optimising the calculation of 2D sub-holograms (2D-SH) for object points of a three-dimensional scene, and a pipeline for the real-time calculation of holograms. The aim of the invention is to shorten the hologram calculation time for depicting a three-dimensional scene, and/or to reduce the calculation complexity of such a hologram compared to the method known from the prior art. This is achieved using a device and a method in which a 2D sub-hologram (2D-SH) of an object point comprising image elements (BE) of the spatial light modulator (SLM) contains half a 1D sub-hologram (1D-SH), the radius of each image element (BE) being determined and each image element (BE) of said 2D sub-hologram (2D-SH) being permanently allocated to at least one image element (BE) of the half 1D sub-hologram (1D-SH) that has the same or a similar radius, by means of an electronic circuit, as well as using a method for coding a hologram, and using an FPGA and/or ASIC-based pipeline. |
