<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can reduce the envelope wrinkles and envelope flap gaps of a recording medium such as an envelope and can obtain excellent fixing performance and to provide an image forming apparatus including the fixing device.SOLUTION: A fixing device 5 includes a pressing pad 60 coming into internal contact with a fixing belt 26, to bring the fixing belt 26 into press-contact with a pressure roller 19. A sliding surface 60a on which the inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 26 slides is formed in the surface facing the fixing belt 26 of the pressing pad 60. The sliding surface 60a has a flat part 61 almost parallel with a paper conveyance direction A and a circular-arc part 63 curved to the side of the pressure roller 19 on the downstream side from the flat part 61 in the paper conveyance direction A. A switch mechanism 70 switches between a first mode where a fixing nip part N1 is formed by press-contact with the flat part 61 and the circular-arc part 63 and a second mode where a fixing nip part N2 is formed by press-contact with only the flat part 61.</p> |
