A high availability contact center is described along with various methods and mechanisms for administering the same. The contact center proposed herein enables snapshots of one instance of a work assignment engine to be transmitted to another server instance where they can be loaded and used as a backup to the original work assignment engine.

obtaining a snapshot of a work assignment engine operating or being configured to operate in a contacting center; compressing, with a compression codec, the snapshot or a portion thereof into a compressed snapshot; packetizing the compressed snapshot to create a packetized snapshot; and transmitting the packetized snapshot to a remote server, the packetized snapshot being transmitted over an IP-based communications network.
