<p>Disclosed are systems and methods for providing gesture-based user control of display functions with respect to a mobile electronic device. In one aspect, the methods include detecting at the device a persistent presence of a user digit in proximity to the screen; and in response to detecting the persistent presence of the user digit in proximity to the screen, entering at the device a hover zoom mode. A distance between the user digit and the screen is used by the device to determine a zoom factor for the display. A location of the user digit across the screen is used by the device to determine a direction in which, and amount by which, to pan the display.</p> |
